Mark began his university education at York University where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree majoring in Sociology.  He then went to law school at the University of San Diego School of Law, graduating in 1998 and was admitted to the State Bar of California that very same year. Mark left sunny San Diego to return to Ontario and the following year, Mark earned a Certificate of Qualification by completing his required Canadian Law courses at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law.  Following his articles, Mark successfully became of member of the Law Society of Ontario and has practiced primarily in the area of Family Law since February 2001.  Mark holds legal degrees in both the United States and Canada.

Mark immediately opened his own law practice where he commenced his legal career prior to opening Borden & Goddard LLP in June 2003 where Mark worked as the managing partner with the firm.

Mark again opened his own firm, Borden Family Lawyers after a several years as a Partner with Borden & Goddard LLP.

Since 2009, Mark has been a dispute resolution officer at the Superior Court of Justice, Family Court, where he presides over first Case Conferences. As a dispute resolution officer, his role is to assist disputing parties to come to a resolution using various available proceedings.

Family Law and Child Protection matters

Mark has practiced almost exclusively in the area of Family Law since 2001 and has limited his current practice to the resolution of Family Law and Child Protection matters.

He also does some work preparing Wills and Powers of Attorney and the administration of Estates.

Mark has experience in all areas of Family Law and frequently appears before the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Justice.  Mark also represents clients at Mediation/Arbitration proceedings and files maintained within the Collaborative Family Law Process.

He maintains an active lifestyle participating in hockey, tennis, baseball and skiing and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Mark has also volunteered his time for the past 7 seasons as a Head Coach within the North York Hockey League and the Greater Toronto Hockey Leagues.
